This
3-credit course is designed for students who have already taken an introductory
writing course, such as EWP 190 (Writing and the Environment) and Advanced
English. It aims to help students develop and sharpen college-level literacy
skills of analysis, argumentation, and critical thinking as well as other
rhetorical knowledge and multimodal competence that are required for success in
communicating interdisciplinary knowledge and concepts in BS Bioprocess/BS
Paper Engineering and other technical fields in the 21st century. Among other
topics, students will critically analyze scholarly works on nature and the
environment as expressed by selected writers and undertake a research project
with a focus on one issue related to bioprocessing and the environment. Frequent
informal and formal writing assignments along with research and documentation are
required.
